The Major League for the “ Città della Speranza”: a thought for the children with cancer

Yesterday Hafro Cortina Major League Team visited the “Città della Speranza”, next to the Padua Hospital, the center where about thirty children with cancer are hospitalized.

The hockey players of the Major League promoted a fund raising activity which took place during the three games of the last Christmas Holidays, in Cortina. Thanks to their commitment 3.000 euro were raised and personally handed to the hospitalized children, yesterday, along with many other teams’ gadgets.

A moment for deep thinking: «It was very touching», commented the players. «You realize how lucky we are, feeling well and able to live for sports».

During the visit, the players met the children in their little rooms and then spent some time all together in the living-room, talking with the kids, the doctors and the nurses about their experiences. They finally gave a “huge” cheque (see attached photo) with the funds raised with the lottery. The children received a “baby” t-shirt specially created for the children of the Città della speranza and some short sticks autographed by all the players.

«We want to thank everyone who bought the tickets for this charity», said the players, «so giving us the chance to help these kids. And a big thank to the entire staff of the Città della Speranza, that welcomed us yesterday and toured us around the structure. We came back home glad to see how happy the children were when they shouted: “Go Cortina go” along with us».
